It is customary to charge $150 for initial consultations in matters other than personal injury cases. It is also standard practice to receive a retainer for fees and costs on any new matter, except in personal injury cases. The amount depends largely on the magnitude of the legal matter. The hourly rate depends on whether the matter is a straight hourly rate or a mixed hourly/contingency rate.
